shooting in the air, or "through the air"

Again and again the government was warning us (the celebrating-community of Jordan) and advising us not to shoot in the air in weddings and celebration as this may turn the celebration into tragedies.

This time, the police, who belong to the government, have ignored the advices of our wise government, and turned a celebration (of shorta-haramy game) into a tragedy.

A couple of thieves (as http://jordantimes.com/?news=5926 reports) were stealing things from the trash at a Greater Amman Municipality landfill in east Amman as the director of the place reported them and a police car came to chase them. They did unfortunately not stop and tried to escape, and then the police started shooting bullets in the air to scare them. For some unknown reason the car overturned and the two were found injured, took to the hospital to find that they were shoot.

ANALYSIS:
There are two scenarios.
1. The guys were shoot by another (than the police) and this makes the story O.K. but very sad.

2. The guys were shot by the police (when shooting in the air ofcourse). BUT THEN I would say that physics fail,..mmm not really, but that this incident should be recorded in Guinness World Records. To have such a chance is really too little when the two objects are moving, this means that the speed and the direction, and the angle of the two bullets shot by the police served (like a miracle) the physics to make those two bullets settle in the thieves’ bodies. Where are you Hollywood writers to hear about our stories?

I would have never said that the bullets were shot in the air if I were the spokesperson here until the investigations are done.
Anyway, shouldn’t the government ask its police system now not to shoot in the air, just like it asks the people who are celebrating? Not really, those thieves should have stopped.

"Heik" Vs. Finding answers

It bothers me,,, the answer “Heik” (because!) when I hear it, and find it not fair. I hear some parents in our community saying the word “Heik” frequently to their kids as a respond to their question that starts with “Why”.. “Heik” is not an answer to be given to a kid; “Heik” is not an answer to anything. We may even know the answer or not, we may even have an answer or not. If not, then the answer is “I don’t know” not “Heik”.

I can exaggerate a bit and say that “Heik” is a crime, especially when it is said to a child. It gives children the idea that some things have no answers, and it may limit their thinking.

Do we know the difference between a kid who grows up getting answers and another who got “Heiks”?? about why they should not go out late,, about why they should be clean,, about why the sky is blue,, about why we gave them these names,, about why they should drink milk,,,,, everything have an answer. “Heik” is not an answer.

Back to stone age Vs. Denmark's freedom of speech

Yesterday in Cairo, Arab countries (excluding Qatar and Lebanon) have adopted new regulations concerning television braodcasting. These new regulations banned anything that questions God, the prophets and the religious symbols, in addition to erotic and alcohol-encouraging materials, and finally and (maybe) most importantly they have banned "offending the governments" on the TV stations...

On the other hand, some Danish newpapers decided to publish the cartoons that show the prophet Mohammad again as a reaction to the news about the three muslims who were planning to kill the painter of those drawings...

I would really like to know the limits of the freedom of speech, if there are any. I mean; I want to say that a government is wrong when it is wrong, but I dont like my God to be cursed, and the Government is not God, nor the leader is, nor the prophet is.

I think that the Arabs have exaggerated when the prophet cartoons were published the first time, and they have showed that they only deserve a governer who is holy. I do/did not have a problem with the cartoons, because they will never make Mohammads value less in my eyes, neither will they make Islam more savage. We (muslims) are the ones who can make islam look savage and barbaric, and we are the ones who can make it look peaceful. NOT a cartoon.

I prefer to live the danish freedom of speech than the arabic one...

Achad Schtaim Schalosch

Spoons bend, “kapput” clocks start to tick and tables start to vibrate all over Germany on Tuesday night when Uri Geller says his magic words “Ached Schtaim Schalosch” (which mean One, Two Three in Hebrew).

As my work requires travelling from time to time, I have been spending the last month in Germany. Having the bless of knowing German to some extent gives me the possibility to watch their TV (which is totally in German, yap they wouldn’t leave a Hollywood movie in English). Every Tuesday night, they present a live show that is called “The Next Uri Geller” in which a group of magicians compete among themselves to win and be the New Uri Geller, where Uri Geller is an Israeli who claims to have psychic powers with which he can move things.

During every show, the competitors make some shows and Uri Geller plays the Jury roll to assess them and say who will move to the next live show and who will say goodbye to magic…In addition to that, Uri Geller performs something himself, which is the most interesting part in the show, because he asks people watching on TV to perform with him and video record it and send him the video if it works. One time he asked –with his psychic powers – the defected clocks to work and they started to tick, another time he made tables vibrate and move by asking people to put their hands on them, and so on.

I am a person who believes in science, nature and their creator. I don’t know if I have to believe such tricks. I always –whenever I watch this show- try to find explanations, physical ones but sometimes I cant find any, especially when the TV starts to show the videos he received from the people who performed with Geller in their houses. What the hell can this be?? Is it just an illusion? Or can a person really do things with his psychic powers. And why the hell am I tiring my ass 12 hours a day in research and science if I can move things by asking them to move?? I swear I would learn Hebrew if it works…

The Domino

It is very regular to hear us Muslims saying the words (قضاء و قدر) and (قسمة و نصيب) meaning with them that the fate has taken its way, and that there is nothing to do (about the situation described). I think that some Muslims’ interpretation to one of the basic elements of belief (to believe in the fate whether good or bad) is very wrong. I hear it here and there from friends as if they blame what happened/happens on Fate…

Yes we do have to believe that God knows all that happened and that will happen, but this is not in the sense that he manipulates things or change them the way he likes, He has given us the freedom of choice, so we are the ones responsible for all the actions we want to make and if not, then there can not be any judgement day.

I am writing this because I was discussing it with my over-believer friend, who blames all on the fate, as if he is useless and controlled by the fate. This irritates me!!

It is good to know concerning this subject that God knows what will happen because he is outside the limits of the time that we live in. Imagine yourself and this entire world with all its interactions inside a see-through glass bowel, where the only one outside this bowel is God, and where this glass represents the limits of our world. Being outside our time limits makes it easy to know what is coming next and what have happened anywhere anytime in this life, its just like watching a movie that you are outside its time limits, you can forward or backward when u like to see all, and time is a creature like all of us (from the point view of God) so God is surely outside its limits. This is why God knows what will happen and all.

Concerning the Fate, It is only to believe that what happens is the result of our actions, and if we know and believe that we are good, and doing good, then get something bad (from our point of view) then we should believe its for our own good,,,maybe not now, maybe some years later. Ya, all what we get is simply what we did, God (to make it fair) would not interfere unless he is supporting a message he sent, and these days are over. Otherwise the only interference God made in this life is creating this nice complicated set of Domino and threw (hit) the first Domino stone (by creating Adam and Eve) to fall and hit the next then the next... and then he started watching.
